Never Fail Pastry


  • 3 cups flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup lard
  • 1 egg
  • 5 Tbsp cold water
  • 1 tsp vinegar


  1. Combine flour and salt in mixing bowl. Cut room temperature lard into flour until mixture resembles crumbs.
  2. Beat egg, water and vinegar together to blend. Pour all liquid over flour mixture. Stir with fork until mixture is moistened.
  3. Divide dough in half and shape each into a ball. Flatten each into a thick circle. Wrap and chill dough 15 minutes for easier rolling.

Yields 2 crusts.
