Homemade Lemon Drink

From “What’s Cooking” circa 1940s


  • 4 oranges
  • 3 lemons
  • 4 lbs. sugar
  • 2 quarts water
  • 2 ounces citric acid


Grate rind from oranges, add to sugar and water and boil for 1 minute. Add juice of lemons and oranges and the acid. Let stand for 24 hours and bottle cold. To serve, mix with water
